Fabric Branches

Don't these owls look like they need the covering of some leaves.  They look too exposed.  When I arrived to work at this site, this poster was just taped to the wall.  It definitely needed some sprucing up.  I saw the idea on http://bahan-membuat.com/membuat-kreasi-karya-seni-unik-dari-barang-bekas to use bare twigs and add fabric leaves. There was no translation provided for the site, but the pictures provided the translation. In hindsight, I wished the twigs could have been cut down to fit the canvas.  Oh well.

The only thing that I do not remember is why all of the backgrounds are orange.

Now the owls are being surrounded by leaves and can you call it fall colors?

The kids are almost done with the project. A few more to go.

Ta-da! All done. The owls are no longer exposed.

Supplies:
1. bare twigs
2. fabric
3. canvas
4. hot glue gun
5. paint
6. q-tips
7. scissors
8. glue

Directions:
1. hot glue twigs on canvas
2. pre-cut fabric in shape of leaves
3. have kids glue "leaves" where they think if would naturally be on the branch
4. have kids paint canvas with Q-tips

Note:
You can have kids paint the canvas first, then follow the steps.  I don't know if you can tell, but having the kids paint last caused them to have several dark shades of that orange color, instead of a uniform application of the orange paint

Duration:
Project took just one day
